minutes remaining

I have read a lot of self-help book, they were great, I went a couple of weeks trying to do what the book recommended. I then found and completed Think and Grow Rich shortly after, completed the 7 habits of the mind. I felt they were all powerful, yet I was having difficulty in getting what I was learning to seep and grow with in me.

My favorite, yet the hardest part was the sit. Seemed one day I could picture so clearly, yet other days I couldn’t keep on target. In the MKE, I was told that we had to successfully sit for 15 – 30 minutes a day with-out moving. (Remaining perfectly still)

I realized that I couldn’t sit still for more that 2-3 minute without itching or flinching. My intention became to sit still for those 15 minutes. Set my timer for 16minutes and did it 3 times a day. I slowly built my time up to 7-8 minutes.

Yesterday I decided that it was a must for me to do a real sit. In the morning I reset my timer several times, you can imagine the frustration building inside. After about 25-30 minutes I gave up and went to work. After lunch I had some time and sat again. This time I was getting 12-13 minutes before I had to start over. Had to get back to work after a couple of tries.

Before I went to bed and after I did my reading I sat for the last time for the day. I had 30 seconds left when I had to scratch the nose. DANG-it. But boy did it feel good to make it 14 and a half minutes. So, I went to bed with a very near win.

I awoke, wide awake at 3:30. Rather than fighting the pillow I decided to do a sit. Got up went into my office and sat, 4-5 minutes went by, Then I had to get up and complete a project on the computer. It was like a firecracker went off under my chair. I reluctantly moved, so rather than starting over, I go on the computer and completed my project. Then I did my sit.

This time I set my timer for 21 minutes. I use that 1st minute to wiggle all the wiggles out. And it doesn’t count towards the minutes. I had a full, confused, and racing mind when I started at 3:30. But now I was calm and relaxed, still not tired, but relaxed. I sat for the full 20 minutes.

By then it was time to get up for the day. So., I did and went into work. Just to prove to my self I could do it I sat for another 20 minutes after lunch and will do a third one in a few minutes.

If am going to control my mind and be able to move to the next level, I am going to have to control my body. I’m thinking this journey has started off with a win for this week.
Bring in on MKE, I’m ready for you.
