MKE Week 3 – Getting to My First Blog Post

minutes remaining

Having missed the first two weekends and live webinars, I’ve been a little spotty in catching up.

The daily readings, lessons, and sitting have become fairly consistent. At least carving time out of the day/night for them is becoming consistent. And comprehending Haanel’s weekly lessons has definitely become clearer for me with Part Three. But my major focus and challenge this week has been the DMP.

From the start, the DMP has felt to me like the cornerstone for everything about MKE — the block of wood that all the readings and exercises will help to whittle into shape. And my initial attempt had seemed vague and scattered even to me. I had great feedback on it from Shirley, my guide, but still I was floundering. Fortunately, I was finally home and on the live webinar (Week 3) last Sunday. Detailed guidance, discussion, and examples – the curtains lifted!

So, working through a full rewrite felt much more useful. Whie certainly not final, it finally felt like it was coming together. And then… a bit of process challenge. It was already past midnight into Wednesday morning – 2 hours past usual bedtime — when I first pushed “submit” on the DMP portal. Nothing happened; “exceeded word limit” showed in small print. I was confounded for most of an hour as I tried to edit down several words at a time, always getting the same result.

I really wanted to get it out for review. Finally, in frustration I turned to turn to the Week 3 Lesson Comments and found that I had not been alone with the word count issue. AND simple enough guidance about using Notepad to clear formatting and submitting through a private window – which worked on the first attempt! Maybe I needed the lesson that MKE is a team sport, it is important to share experience!

By this morning, Thursday, the next round of great feedback from Shirley came in and there are still important things to think through further, but I feel confident that I am only about two versions away from something solid enough to work with seriously.

Getting this first blog post in will be another step!

  • Will,
Nice work and things about being busy and the feeling of being behind will pass. Remember this is about you doing your BEST. We can encourage but you are the one doing the work and getting the benefit. We all struggle with the DMP because it’s something we really don’t work on in our daily lives.
    Great success and Blessing

  • Will, congrats on being the “self-reliant and successful person” we read about daily in the Blue Print Builder! In the clutch, you used the tools now in the toolbox we’ve been given in MKE and got your DMP posted with the help of the Master Mind. After traveling, congrats on your first blog post, too. Thanks for encouraging us all with your post. (And your cornerstone DEFINITELY is whittling into shape!) Cheering you on!

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m right there with you… whittling the wood the wood into shape.
