Interview by Thomas James Allen, Higher Consciousness Journal

This is an excerpt of an interview with Michael T Smith, Author and Entrepreneur that takes place at 10:00 am on March 17, 2025, at the View Coffee Shop, in Sedona Arizona. It is a beautiful sunny temperate 88-degree morning. There is a light breeze blowing. Of course, the most exciting thing about this place is the fabulous views of the red rock formations.

It’s said that Walt Disney was inspired by these formations for the designs of the rides at Disney World. We order our coffee and food and find a nice quiet spot with a westerly view featuring the Snoopy formation.

Reporter: Why Sedona? I mean I love it here. I’ve heard that you love water.

MTS: This is true. I love it here as well. Now I believe that we live in a spiritual system, that energy is everywhere. Also, everything comes from individual thought which is energy and concentrated thought creatively engaged with the Universal Mind the source of all power creates all. This is a what happens within can be seen without process.

On the other hand, I love to be in external places that have concentrated energy where the majesty and awe is palpable. These are thought of by some as vortexes. I believe that places like the water and Sedona are those kinds of energy centers.

Reporter: I hope this doesn’t offend you, but I thought it would be fun to have ChatGPT review of your book to see how close it was to other reviews. It said your book seemed like a collection of essays. That explored and discussed the linkages between Spirituality, Metaphysics, Philosophy and Transformation.

With the takeaway being that until one understands how the duality of mind that is, the conscious and unconscious minds work to create the oneness of the mind, that humans would continue to fail, flail and rail at the wind. There was more, but how does that sit with you?

MTS: Wow that is very interesting and a good synopsis. As it states everything from fire to A.I. had its genesis as a thought. I guess it could be seen as a collection of essays as easily as chapters.

I probably fancied myself as an essayist, commentator on the economic, social, political spectrum, many years ago when I was young and had so much to say. Right up to the point that addiction becomes the story.

Then recovery becomes the story. Then there is all the uncovering and discovering that comes with process of Spiritual and self-development.

Reporter: I know you say your book is semi-autobiographical and has a good deal of references to AA and 12 step programs interspersed throughout. In which field of study do you see the 12-step model being?

MTS: All of it!
