Let’s Talk Story, with McKenna Maduli.

Mahalo, we have a special guest today, she’s from the North Shore of Oahu, the small town of Kahuku!! She is the first female multi-millionaire to come out of Kahuku. Let’s welcome Mimo Pearl!!

Thank you McKenna, I am a fan of your show and watch it every sunday. I’m so happy to be here.

Mimo, tell us about yourself, where did you get your drive from, why network marketing, you made your first million in a year?

Hahaha, yes McKenna, I had a great year. I followed the example of a fellow associate, who made her first million in a year. I asked her, “how did you do that?” Her answer was funny and I don’t know if its safe to say it here, but, I’ll give a censored version, she answered with this:

“I know a lot of people who have diabetes, sssshhhh. I talked to everyone I knew and asked if they knew anyone who had diabetes and they would answer, yes, I do, I have diabetes. Then I tell them you have to try our product, I show them a video and they sign up, easy, just like that.”

By the way, she’s Samoan. I didn’t zero in on diabetes. My approach was more open to health challenges, tap into their dreams, more time and money to do as they please.

I would ask people if they knew anyone who… and that’s how I would get the conversation going. My drive, honestly, I was on cruise control for 10 years, maybe? I was introduced to the company I’m with now, 3 years ago.

I was impressed with everything, company, product, the people, loved it all. I was ready to rock my business with my daughter, Mahealani Maui, she lives in California. Anyway, as we were getting going, having meetings, enrolling associates and customers, we were on a roll.

Then I had a ladder incident, the ladder had collapsed with me on it, and my foot slipped between the rungs and my foot was severed at the ankle. I knew right there, my foot was a goner, literally, hahahaha. I saw bones sticking out and my foot dangling by a tendon. It was pretty gross.

Long story short, 6 months in the hospital, over 20 surgeries, I stopped counting at 15. My foot was saved. The healing took over 2 ½ years. It was at that point, I realized my foot isn’t getting better any faster, there was physical therapy, learning to walk with a brace, my right leg is over 2” shorter than my left leg.

My business was on the back burner. I knew I needed to get back to my business, how? I can’t walk, I’m in a wheelchair, I don’t drive anymore, I don’t see people everyday. I had all the obstacles staring at me, that was my reality. Then I remembered, it’s not the How it’s the Why!!

Oh my heavens Mimo, that was a lot for you to deal with. I have no words but, wow!! So, you discovered your why, may I ask??

Absolutely, I am a believer of the Why, set your clear intention, which is your why, the mechanisms appear, and the results are as you wanted. Simple formula. I live by it everyday.

My why, my amazing hospital bills, hahahaha, just kidding. For me, it was that 2 ½ year mark, all this time had gone by and I wasn’t any richer than the day before. I asked myself, “are you going to wait for your foot to heal completely?” my answer was, “no, I’m done waiting, I’m done believing all my obstacles.”

I knew I needed support, I wanted support to get me out of my rut. With trust, I maintained a positive attitude throughout my ordeal, however, I was unmotivated and struggled getting myself out of that state of mind.

Then something wonderful happened, I saw in my email the Master Key Experience was starting another round. I took this course before, 5 years ago, life happened and I didn’t put to use what I learned. That was the answer to my support request.

The Master Key Experience teaches you how to rewire your thinking, communicate with your subconscious and get the conscious mind on board. We do daily activities, meditate, visualize and all sorts of exercises that support in creating good habits. This class got me back.

My why, is to have money to travel, help people in need, build my dream home, and have peace of mind. I can do a lot with money, when you’re poor, you can’t do anything. I’m 65 years young, and I have things I want to do. I went on my first cruise, to Alaska, it was a memorable trip.

I was able to take all of my family to Disney World, we stayed at the Disney Resort, first class treatment all the way. We are still talking about that trip. I’ve been able to go to Iceland and stay in one of those Glass Igloos and experience the most beautiful natural phenomenon.

I have loved traveling from when I was a little girl, growing up in the Air Force, yes, the Air Force brat thing, we traveled a lot. I am so grateful I am able to travel and I have the money to do so.

Traveling is my number one why. I’ve always wanted to buy land and build my own house, well, someone else with the skills will build my house, not me personally, hahahaha.

I want my dogs to be able to run and have fun in the great outdoors. You know how expensive land is here, ridiculous. Now I have the money, I found the perfect property, set back against the mountains, here on the North Shore. My house, we are waiting for the building permit. Yay me.

Wow, you have traveled quite a bit, I’m jealous. I’m curious, I personally don’t know anyone who has had this kind of success with the Network Marketing Model. I always hear how it’s a pyramid scheme, only the people at the top make money, I haven’t heard positive things. Change my mind on that, please.

Absolutely, I understand how you can believe NWM is a pyramid, it is. Everything is a pyramid, for example, you have a boss, who has a boss, then there are people who work for you and people who work for them, get what I’m saying? Pyramids are the strongest structures in the world.

However, with NWM, everyone has the same opportunity, not just your boss you work for. With NWM, I work for me, I set my hours, I set my vacation time. How much vacation do you get? The normal 1 week or 2 weeks? I’m the CEO of ME Inc. No one tells me what to do or how to do it.

I have days I don’t feel like working and want to veg, I can, no one will fire me. My favorite part of NWM is helping people achieve their dreams. I love celebrating with them when their checks keep getting bigger. The best business model ever.

One of my mentors, Mark J said, “NWM is Personal Development with a pay plan.” That is spot on. I have learned so much about myself, I invested in a few character/leadership companies.

Klemmer is my favorite and the Master Key Experience course is another favorite, I can have two favorites. Does that clear up any misguided ideas about NWM?

You did a great job explaining that Mimo. Wow, now I want to sign up. Hahahaha. Did I tell you how I heard about you?

No McKenna, you did not. I hope it was all good things you heard.

You’re in luck, it was all good. I learned that you have started an entrepreneurial program at Kahuku High School. What is that all about and how is it working?

Yes, my special project, we just implemented it this school year. I’ve been given a year to work on this program, then it will get reviewed and we shall see if it’s something they want to continue.

All the fun has been taken out of school because of budget cuts. I created this idea from when I used to be a substitute teacher. There are no classes to set these students up to succeed in the real world. They are being taught to be employees. I dreamed of changing that. Now I get to make that happen.

There are 4 different courses, 1 course each quarter. One course is on NWM business model, how to do the business, another course is Social Media to build your business, another is Personal Development, last is how to start your own traditional business.

I have experts committed to teaching and some of them will teach via zoom. I’m excited, so excited, and the students get to take this class as an elective. Sad part is, the class size is limited due to fire code. Only 25 students per class, I’m given only one period, a day, as we are in the testing phase.

My goal is to succeed and to be able to offer this class for all 7 periods and the best part, the students get to grade themselves. Watch, they will give themselves A+ and why not? Did I mention how excited I am about this?

Wow, wow, wow, I wish I was back in high school so I can take your classes. Mimo, is there anything special you’d like to share with our audience, any advice?

Oh my, McKenna, you’d have to bring me back, the answer is another show, hahahahahaha. Advice? Definitely invest in yourself, which means, personal development. Practice self love, which means putting yourself first.

Don’t allow “Life happens” to keep you from working on your business/dreams. I didn’t mention this earlier, another why is my family. They have been the very reason many times that had me in the “Life happens” funk.

Once I decided I was not going to allow that anymore, was the night I shocked them all and told them “you’re adults, figure out your own stuff and leave me the hell alone, for once!!!” Boundaries are important, set them up early. I didn’t do that early on. Now my family knows.

Always put yourself first, that’s self love. Thank you McKenna for having me, this was fun.

Mahalo Mimo, I learned a lot and I’m excited for all your upcoming travels, your new home, your entrepreneurial program and mahalo for such insightful advice for our future entrepreneurs.

  • Thank you Mimo for sharing those NWM ‘pearls’ like “NWM is Personal Development with a pay plan.” Love it. I thought you lived on Kauai but now I see Oahu. You write with an energy and a passion. It makes me want to know more. I’ve been in a lot of NWM companies but never made it work. Probably becasue I lacked to ‘work on self’ ethic. Well, you sure have that nailed down. Go girl. Mahalo.
