December 3rd, 2025 – Sandi Mac interviews Renee Carson for the local paper

We meet Renee on the back patio of the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant. It faces an executive airport. She’s watching with interest a helicopter floating 5 feet above the ground. As we get to the table, the helicopter is now over 20 feet up doing some kind of circular maneuver.

The noise makes the introductions and the beginning of the interview mildly challenging, as yelling questions doesn’t usually put an interviewee at ease.

I’m here to learn more about Renee’s second book, Kid to Caregiver, and I brought my co-worker, Brad, with me because he is a big supporter of Renee’s animal charity, “Kitties and Friends.”

Renee’s first book, out in May 2024, was called Stop Chasing Shiny Objects. It was part self-help and part autobiographical. She recalls a quote from one of the first entrepreneur conferences she went to back in 2017:

Becoming an Entrepreneur is to go through a self-discovery process. It’s self-improvement with the highest compensation package in history.

She had no idea what she was getting into back then, but the quote followed her, and she did go through an amazing journey of self-discovery, and eventually, through perseverance and the support of her mastermind groups, she was able to find balance and success.

She wrote her first book hoping it would help other aspiring entrepreneurs avoid some of the endless paths of distractions she went down chasing those rabbits with the shiny collars (one for every possible online business).

She developed a quiz to go with her book to help people get started in online work, which was very successful and led to her earning more money via affiliate promotions and partnering with some big names in the business, helping them grow their businesses via consulting – finally putting that degree in Instructional Design to use.

That success allowed her to create her Kitties and Friends animal charity. She’s already planning her second one to help caregivers with the proceeds from her new book… which we will talk about once someone helps that helicopter pilot land or fly quietly.
