In our Week 20 Master Key Lesson, we read Haanel Chapter 20 six days and then did our SIT (meditation) with this thought “For in him we live, and move, and have our being” from Acts 17:28.
There was so much food for thought in this lesson!
1. The spirit of you is — you; without the spirit you would be nothing. It becomes active through your recognition of it and its possibilities. 2. You may have all the wealth in Christendom, but unless you recognize it and make use of it, it will have no value; so, with your spiritual wealth: unless you recognize it and use it, it will have no value. The one and only condition of spiritual power is use or recognition.
The Master Key, Charles Haanel 20:1 &2
I felt the part that talked about spiritual wealth was worth spending quality time thinking about. I asked myself how much thought, energy or time do I put into my spiritual wealth so I can recognize it? If I do not recognize it, how can I see the value and then use it for good?
As I started doing the lesson, each time I read it and did the Sit, I sensed more deeply the presence of the Spirit. It felt like God was pouring a lovely gift in and around me. What wonders am I missing when I am too “busy” to turn off the noise and spend time with this wonderful God that created me?
It is like turning my back on Spiritual health. Many of us put a lot of time and effort into both physical and financial health. The ripples of spiritual health (wealth) will flow out through us as a channel into all the other aspects of our lives.
I love how Ephesians 3:16-19 ESV describes this “That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
I have mentioned the “Sit “which is a form of meditation. Let me tell you a bit more about that in case you are new to the idea. I have been doing it in a limited fashion for several years using what is called Contemplative Prayer. We were taught to sit in silence for about 20 minutes and it recommended to do it twice a day.
I was quite faithful to do it once but not twice. I would sit in silence and focus on a special word I chose. Then if distractions enter, I will let them float though like a cloud but not engage. It helped me to go back to my word to refocus. Here is what I found different in the “Sit” in the Master Key Experience.
When we started learning it, our instructors suggested that we find a comfortable place and then sit very still, starting for a few minutes. I realized I did not realize how much I moved – my fingers, toes or if something felt itchy or uncomfortable. It takes serious focus:-)
Most days now it is much easier, but it really takes practice. Now it is a quieter “Silence”! I learned in our Week 21 class that our thoughts are running at 1200 words a minute, so chatter and monkey mind are good descriptions! It’s like trying to tame the monster and turn it into a friend.
Imagine this a beautiful description from Haanel Chapter 20 of how our every breath fits with this.
The Master Key, Charles Haanel, 20:23
We are told that “In Him we live and move and have our being,” and we are told that He is a Spirit, and again that He is Love, so that every time we breathe, we breathe this life, love, and spirit. This is Pranic Energy, or Pranic Ether, we could not exist a moment without it. It is the Cosmic Energy; it is the Life of the Solar Plexus.
I can honestly say that I now love my times of silence. It leads to an enlightened way to see things. As I said above, the ripples flow out even when I do not expect them!
Till next week – Here is the challenge -plan time to quiet your spirit and watch for the ripples!
Hi Patricia, Beautiful insights into meditation and how your silent times give you clarity. Cheering you on.
