MKE Week 23 – So money doesn’t grow on trees, it’s actually an attitude of the mind?

There were a few things that really caught my attention this past week in Haanel, two of them were:

Money consciousness is an attitude of mind.

Fear is the opposite from money consciousness, it is poverty consciousness.  Charles Haanel, Master Key System

These two statements really got me thinking a different way when I sit down to pay bills. I am allowing myself to think a different way now that I know fear is poverty consciousness.

I can see how most are fearful with the economy we have today, living paycheck to paycheck. This puts people’s mindset in a constant struggle to make ends meet. But if they were to take fear out of the equation, what would their financial health look like? Many have been in fear over money for so long that even winning a multimillion-dollar lottery still leaves the winners broke because they haven’t let go of the fear they have carried with them.

This week my Aunt was visiting us here in Florida. I won’t go into detail on the problems she is having with her family and money issues and of course what was said? “Money is the root of all evil”.

I hear this all the time, but if it is so evil why does everyone want it? What most don’t realize is we get exactly what we give, and the pleasure is in the pursuit rather than the possession. You must give to get to keep that flow of energy going. But when greed kicks in is when it is hoarded and stops the flow of energy and can turn it into a bad situation.

The law of success is service, and we get what we give.

As Og said this week:  “Today I master my emotions and if I feel fear I plunge ahead” (concentrating on what I want in life and wash away the fear).

  • Hi Cheryl, Yes, taking fear out of the equation makes the flow of money a positive experience. I enjoyed your post.

  • I’ve had to remind myself that it’s the LOVE OF MONEY that is the root of all evil. I just looked up the verse…and it’s even more powerful:
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10

  • You expressed this with great insight, and I greatly appreciated reading it. Thank You!
