The mental diet is a very simple exercise in its request. In the execution of the mental diet, it is where the revelation has come for me that I am complicating a very simple request. Think positive thoughts, well it can’t be that hard, can it?
I’ve had to start over a few times a day and it has made me realize that negative thoughts from my past keep surfacing. The good thing now is that I am recognizing the negative thought coming up rather than letting it continue to run in the background without any interruption, challenge or substitution.
My past has been adversely affecting my present which impacts the future that I can create. The mental diet has made me realize that I have to be more present and more positive as a key step towards creating the future that I want to create.
This positivity and presence will allow me to shift my internal dialogue to one that serves me better than what was there before.
This ties well with the Master Key Part 8 reading this week. There are a number of paragraphs that resonated with me this week.
We all know that this is by no means easy. Mental habits are difficult to control, but it can be done and the way to do it is to begin at once to substitute constructive thought for destructive thought. Form the habit of analyzing every thought.
Charles Haanel, The Master Key System, Part 8:4
Do not confuse Imagination with Fancy, or that form of daydreaming in which some people like to indulge. Daydreaming is a form of mental dissipation which may lead to mental disaster.
Charles Haanel, The Master Key System, Part 8:14
You cannot entertain weak, harmful, negative thoughts ten hours a day and expect to bring about beautiful, strong and harmonious conditions by ten minutes of strong, positive, creative thought.

Hey Matthew, yep a simple exercise for complicated people. Thanks for sharing.
Michael, Your journey with the mental diet is inspiring. Great insights! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Matthew, You have written a powerful post about the mental diet. What you said here “My present impacts my future” is so true. Celebrating with you the power to make that change creating the new future you.
Bravo Matthew for embracing the mental diet and becoming aware of your thoughts. Like you shared, now you recognize the thought, you apply the Law of Substitution, so that negative thought does not continue to run in the background without any interruption. And like Og said in Scroll I, “with practice, any act becomes easy.” Cheering you on!
