Two things have been happening. I’ve finally really grasped how the subconscious is influenced and I need to pay more attention and make conscious choices to influence myself to do better things.
AND – I still can’t look in the mirror because I look at the poem taped up there, and I know I’ve not done my complete best. I’ve done much better than any time in the past, though, so I’m trying to focus on that and keep moving forward.
Also, a 3rd thing… reading Og Mandino’s chapter on Love has helped me refocus when needed and also amplifies just how reading the news affects me. Clearly, they call it “Doom scrolling” for a reason…I just kept ignoring it. I had the TV news off most of the weekend, and it was so incredible how different the whole house felt, too.
I will make better choices now and keep moving forward. AND, I’m going to go down a rabbit hole about neuropeptides instead of something bonkers and “doomlike.”
Thank you for sharing your journey Renee. It was great reading how you’re able to recognize how the choices you make influences your subconscious. I’m glad Og Mandino’s Scroll 2 has a positive impact on your daily choices.
There are days I can’t read “The Gal in the Glass” and then look at myself in the mirror, too. Maybe before reading the poem, repeat “I greet today with love in my heart” 10 times with enthusiasm, while looking at yourself. The more you believe this, the easier it will be to read “The Gal in the Glass”. Just the very act of greeting the day with love in your heart and being able to see yourself full of love for yourself and others means you’ve past the test! You’ve got this!
Bravo Renee! Your awareness of your thoughts is a significant victory- continue celebrating being the Objective Observer.
As far as the mirror and poem, just give yourself grace as you accumulate more repetitions… like Og says, “with practice, any act becomes easy.” You are doing great!
