MKE Week 11 – I feel tricked, bamboozled and hoodwinked!

I joined the MKE Workshop 11 weeks ago have been working harder (on myself) than I ever have before. I trusted these people, doing everything that they told us to do!

Reading Emerson, listening and reading stuff from these guys that I never heard of before: Charlie Haanel, Napoleon Hill, and W. Clement Stone. Taking away hours and hours a week from my TV time.

I even cancelled spending time with friends to do the “homework”, repeating these things over and over many times a day. I was instructed to come up (out of my own head!) with something called a DMP- A Definite Major Purpose for my life.

Then came a POA (yea – LOTS of acronyms!) a plan of action. Then they had the audacity to tell me to go on a DIET! Can you imagine the gall?

It was a Mental Diet where I couldn’t even entertain a negative thought for a whole week, for more than six or seven seconds without replacing it with a positive thought or I would “fall off of the wagon” and have to start all over.

And to top it all off, I had to find another person or two to be in an “alliance”, so they could call me every day to check up and make sure that we were doing what we were supposed to be doing.

So, I do all of this and they tell us that on Dec 3rd, in the workshop, we will all receive a HUGE payoff! I kept checking my bank account balance, waiting for it to shoot up to the sky! But it didn’t. However, we did receive a payoff that was priceless!

We found out that all the work that we have been doing in the past 11 weeks, unbeknownst to us, was preparing us, with these four simple, tiny steps to master the habit of Persistence!

We learned from Haanel through Napoleon Hill that these four steps are essential for success in all walks of life! These are the steps by which one may control one’s economic destiny, the steps that lead to freedom and independence of thought!

WOW! What a pay day! Now, almost without noticing what was happening, I now have a definite purpose in my life and a burning desire to achieve it through a definite plan of continuous action.

Using my mind that is closed to everything and anything negative and I am masterminding with likeminded people where we can support each other’s growth through world changing power habits.

Persistence is NOT a characteristic. Persistence is a habit! A good, life changing habit that I can replace for a bad habit. And I have!

I am looking forward to Workshop 12!

  • Mike,

Your Week 11 journey is nothing short of captivating! Your dedication to the MKE Workshop and the transformation it brought is truly commendable. Your humorous take on feeling “tricked, bamboozled, and hoodwinked” adds a delightful touch to your narrative. Your commitment to the Mental Diet and the pursuit of a positive mindset reflects your thoughtful and detail-conscious approach. The realization that persistence as a habit, not just a characteristic, is profound. Your enthusiasm is contagious, and I’m excited to see your continued growth in Workshop 12. Keep embracing those life-changing habits, Mike!

  • Thank you so much Laura. I appreciate your response. Yes, the payoff that we were promised was absolutely priceless!

  • You’re welcome Sandra. I had a lot of fun writing it. It’s my Mother’s sense of humor, I guess! 😉

  • ooooo…I saw what you did there, Mike. Beautiful Creative Expression, I’d say. Nicely done.

  • Mike, the title of your blog grabbed my attention, and I made the right choice to read it. It’s the same for me, the inexplicable things happening, the little changes here and there, and the habits are here to stay. The old blueprint tries to convince me some days to “skip, to take a break, it’ll be okay”….No WAY! I now have a DMP and those old habits are being replaced.
Thanks for the great bolg! thanks for the title that got me to click on it and read more!

  • Hi Mike,

What an incredible journey you’ve shared! It’s truly inspiring to witness your dedication and transformation over the past 11 weeks in the MKE Workshop. Your commitment to working on yourself and embracing the teachings of Emerson, Haanel, Hill, and Stone is commendable.

The idea of crafting a DMP and following through with a POA, along with the mental diet, demonstrates a level of discipline many may find challenging. It’s fascinating how, in the end, the payoff wasn’t a monetary one but something far more valuable—the mastery of the habit of persistence.

Your realization that persistence is not merely a characteristic but a life-changing habit is profound. It’s evident that your efforts have led to a clear purpose, a burning desire, and a continuous plan of action. The support from your alliance and the power of likeminded individuals coming together for growth and positive change are truly remarkable.

I wish you continued success on your journey, and I’m eager to hear about your experiences in Week 12! Keep thriving and embracing those world-changing power habits.

  • I love this!!! And a little humor with the diet, LOL! I can’t speak for everyone but I would imagine this is so relatable to all of us.

  • Very creative blog Mike! Super summary of your MKE journey so far and look at all your growth. Congratulations!! P.S. we are just 1/3 of the way..it keeps getting better and better. =)
