We’ve been learning for quite a while now about the law of growth, one of the 7 laws of the mind, whose main idea is, that which you think about grows. That which you hold in your mind, and concentrate on, leads to an increase of that which you are focused on.
So this week, we were introduced to the Franklin Makeover, taken from an idea (maybe the first excel spreadsheet way before computers), by one of our forward thinking forefathers, Benjamin Franklin.
His was based on examples of faults he found that went against 13 virtues which he valued. We, however, in Master Key Experience put a positive spin on the exercise, by instead focusing on the positive attributes of our character and identity which we wanted to develop within ourselves to make ourselves better.
We are learning that acquiring knowledge is not enough, because knowledge does not apply itself. It is in the application of knowledge that leads to the results we’re looking for in our personal development.
Two of the 13 choices and their position on the chart were pre-assigned, but from the remaining eleven virtue choices, as I looked around my pretty much disorganized home office, I chose “well organized” to start my makeover sheet.
Today as I was coming out of chapel and walking past the schoolyard, all of a sudden, something clicked. Of course I had seen that fence every day for years as I drove or walked past, but today, I “saw” each section of the metal fence was the same length, the same color, had the same design, and was connected together in a straight line, and I thought to myself, “well organized”!
I’m banking on the law of growth and “do it now” attitude to improve the look of my office. It won’t happen over night, but every journey begins with a first step, and awareness is the first step that leads to change. Thank you Ben!
Loved your post! Could definitely related to ‘organize office’ … and to relax into this.
