Family and friends are one of the joys of the Christmas and New Year seasons. I went to see my daughter’s family. We went to the aquarium in New Jersey and had a wonderful time. We also went to a great restaurant and enjoyed such a delightful meal and time together.
I didn’t realize what routine I was in until I was with the grandkids, and they wanted to know about the shapes and crazy words in the shapes. Adults will be happy with a brief overview and Kids want the why and then Why that until the subject is finally put to rest.
On New Year’s Eve, I went to church and was in the lobby when a young man came out. He was angry with his parents and asked for help but didn’t think that was what he said. I explained the experience I have raising 7 children. I told him sometimes the expression on his face says more than the words coming out of his mouth.
This was what a father understood as a teachable moment. He went back in with his parents and when he was leaving, he introduced me to his family and gave me his name and I did as well.
My take on that is that the daily lesson of giving and receiving promises has a place in my spirit and needs to be on the tip of my tongue at every moment.
I always keep my promises.
