In part 15, Haanel says that knowledge without application is worthless. Or faith without works is dead, if you swing that way…
As an online health and fitness coach I regularly emphasize that everything not autonomic starts in your brain, prove me wrong, you can’t. You can tell your arm to lift over and over, but until your brain gets involved it won’t move.
Here’s some more food for thought:
Snack 1: The distinction between having knowledge and effectively using it to drive action.
Consider for a moment that having a knowledge of the creative power of thought does not necessarily mean possessing the art of thinking. This idea prompts us to reflect on the fact that knowledge, in and of itself, does not apply itself. Our actions are not solely governed by knowledge, but rather by custom, precedent, and habit.
In essence, the mere possession of knowledge does not guarantee its use.
Snack 2: the value of knowledge lies in its application and the potential for transformation.
How then do we bridge the gap between possessing knowledge and effectively applying it? Haanel suggests that the only way to compel ourselves to apply knowledge is through determined conscious effort. This conscious effort involves recognizing that knowledge unused simply passes from the mind, unrealized and unutilized.
The best vehicle for creative transference is meditation! Visualization during a meditative state cements ideas and desires in place. Doing it over and over gets you the skills, psychic change, and life you desire.
Snack 3: Encouraging a shift in mindset to recognize that the true value of knowledge emerges from its active application.
So, what does this mean for us? It calls for a shift in our approach. We are encouraged to consider the idea that the true worth of our knowledge lies in the active application of its principles. This realization prompts us to continue the line of thought until we gain sufficient insight to formulate a definite program of action.
In essence, the message resonates with the very essence of productivity and personal development. It underscores the importance of not just acquiring knowledge, but actively using it to shape our behaviors, decisions, and ultimately, our lives.
Snack 4: The importance of developing a conscious plan to turn knowledge into purposeful action.
To harness the power of application, it’s crucial to develop a conscious awareness of our knowledge and how it can be applied. This involves deliberate introspection, the breaking of old habits, and the formation of new, productive ones. It requires the conscious development of a plan—a definite program—that allows us to translate knowledge into purposeful action.
In essence, the message resonates with the very essence of productivity and personal development. It underscores the importance of not just acquiring knowledge, but actively using it to shape our behaviors, decisions, and ultimately, our lives.
Haanel reminds us that true empowerment lies not just in what we know, but in how we use that knowledge. By embracing the power of application, we can transform our understanding into action, and in doing so, shape a more purposeful and impactful existence.
Sounds like snack food for a self-directed thinker, Stephanie! Delicious! 🙂

Great blog
You’re so right, and it’s not that simple, is it? The mere possession of knowledge does not guarantee its use, nor does acquiring knowledge. –but actively using it to shape our behaviors, decisions, and ultimately, our lives is how we use that knowledge. Thanks!
