Sitting in a quiet cafe on the oceanfront in Portugal, drinking a glass of port.

I am very relaxed and am chatting with a new person in my online business. We can feel the ocean breeze and the sun. I am so joyful with the feeling of freedom, both financial and personal.

I am grateful that I had people in my life to help me get here. I am putting myself out there and I am good with it.

My acquaintance says, “congratulations on the success of your short stories: “Communication (or lack thereof)..”

Thank you. When I was writing, I was wondering if what I was doing was a worthwhile effort. So, I took a break and went to MacDonald’s for a coffee. I asked the gal that took my order if she knew if the Staples store next door was open.

She looked me straight in the eye and said, “it is ok, you can take a seat just over there.” I held eye contact, said thank you and took my food that I wanted to eat in my car over to the table and sat there. Talk about an immediate answer to one’s question.

I have always struggled with communication. My family’s motto was, go by what I mean and not by what I say. My child brain was always going, what?? I have had so many MacDonald experiences I thought maybe it isn’t just me.

Really, trying to clarify yourself sometimes just becomes a big joke. Not everyone sees it like that, but oh well.

“Do you think you’ll expand any of these shorts to something longer?”

I am gathering information to turn them into, perhaps, a feature film of some sort. It is so much fun to take my issues and turn it into something that others may be able to learn from.

Then, I would like to write about how to take ourselves a lot less seriously. Lighten up but still be focused and productive, (or not).

The work, frustration, and the self imposed struggle, which brought about my growth, is so worth the freedom that I am feeling now.
