As we get older our habits are more intrenched and grow deeper and deeper roots. I did not realize how deep until I began this Master Key’s program.
Actually, my first realization of how bad and how efficient my procrastination was in my life was when I talked with Mark J as part of my Master Class program. He said being Yellow probably meant I had problems completing tasks. Of course I was immediately on the defensive.
But the seed of thought was planted and as I read Scroll 1 from The Greatest Salesman in the World and pondered the idea of bad habits – especially one predominate one – my mind went back to even my school days. How often did I leave homework – and even studying – until the last minute? Way too often to be honest.
And then I looked at my home business. How often have I been working on contacting people, especially since I began these last 2 courses? Nada. None. Not organized enough. And I have only myself to blame. Definitely not the way to increase my income, that is for sure!
I am remembering the words “Do it now!” much more often these days. They often come back to haunt me lol. These past 5 weeks have been eye openers for me. Difficult decisions have had to be made. Doing things now often takes a lot of energy as I am pulling the bad habit roots out. But it is, slowly but surely, getting done.
I remember my Mom telling us:
Whatever you do,
Do with your might.
Things done by halves
Are never done right.
and that is what I work on focussing on now – the idea of “do one thing, do it well” (as in completely), and then go on to the next. (Thank you M*A*S*H for that line!).
My journey of self discovery & change (even at my age) continues, taking different paths, and growing. I work on completing one project before I jump at the next “shiny object.”
