When I saw the Giving and Receiving card introduced this past week, I was ecstatic! I have always done this but not to this extent. I always smile and ask how strangers are, in the Supermarket for example. I refer to the employees’ names and thank them personally for heling me or bagging my groceries.
At a restaurant the service person does not leave the tableside unless I know their name. If I make a phone call for service, I always ask their name if they have not already given it and call them by name during the conversation. I have never had to do any of these jobs and I have a great appreciation for the people who do.
I heard a long time ago that a verbal compliment should be received as if it were a beautiful bouquet of flowers. If someone gave you beautiful flowers, you would not throw them on floor and stomp on them with your foot.
So, reinforcing this on such a high level – with everyone, no matter the brevity will still be a challenge for me. However, it is a GOOD HABIT and since it is a good habit then it is my will!

For me, this really connected the World Without and the World Within.
Looking forward to week 5 and continuing to build and connect.
I can be what I will to be!
Great job linking the MKE into your every day.
Love this post Mike. Thanks for sharing. What a giving spirit.
You’ve already formed some good habits, Mike! Linking more positivity can only leave you more worry free! 🙂
“A verbal compliment should be received as if it were a beautiful bouquet of flowers.” I never thought about it like that but it IS true.
I always leave people with the statement “I appreciate you” rather than the standard ‘thank you.’
Prayerfully it helps connect “the World Without and the World Within.”
Mike…you clearly are way along the journey mastering the World Within. Happy Grocery Shopping!
Powerful blog Mike, full of lots of gifts and compliments!! Bravo for applying the knowledge you are learning from the MKE.
