The team said this week we will all quit. I felt my ego jump up at that moment and say, “I am not a quitter! Why would you say that?!”

Then I calmed down to hear the explanation. That we will all quit in one fashion or another. Either we will actually quit, give up on ourselves and reinforce a habit of not finishing OR we will quit giving less than 100%.

I am in that second group. 75%-90% effort always produced great results for me in the past. I got into a habit of giving less that my best and being ok with the results. This is the onion plant-type of life I have found that has not pleased me and I am now changing.

As Haanel spoke about this week in #12,

“Unless you do this, you had better not start at all, because modern psychology tells us that when we start something and do not complete it, or make a resolution and do not keep it, we are forming the habit of failure; absolute, ignominious failure. If you do not intend to do a thing, do not start; if you do start, see it through even if the heavens fall; if you make up your mind to do something, do it; let nothing, no one, interfere; the “I” in you has determined, the thing is settled; the die is cast, there is no longer any argument.”

The Master Key System, Charles Haanel, Part 4, #12

I had to look up what ignominious meant…public shame. I tied this together to me. I was not feeling any shame because I was getting better results than others in life with just a pittance of effort.

This kept me from feeling the shame but failure was none the less my result because partial effort won’t work here because I KNOW IT.

My subby knew I was incongruent and knew I would not finish a thing or give less that I know I can, so failure was the result. Well, here’s to me being a quitter and quitting giving less than my best. Thank you for the challenge! I am all in!
