In a past post, I shared how I played a musical instrument as a part of my father’s commitment to raising disciplined children.
As I read The Master Key System, Part Fourteen, the word “harmony” is not defined in the context of music. It is defined as ”harmonious conditions in your life”, which comes from the development of “an harmonious mental attitude”.
My week’s concentration on Harmony, focused in two particular areas. The “I”, as in Universal Substance, and the “Ego”, that part of ourselves that is quite content in being in charge of our mediocrity.
Cue the song, “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King”. Simba, our hero overcomes his “Ego”, is inspired to think of others, reflects on his father Mufasa, and connects with “His Power” to save his country completing his Hero’s Journey.
Other films that captured such a transformation this week include, “Rudy”, and “Door To Door”. And yes, all require tissue. Why? Because we watch as the Hero overcomes their own fear to accomplish a goal or make a difference far beyond themselves. We see ourselves in the story.
Writing this is creating a tissue moment for me. Harmony for me is being congruent with myself in a way that stops me from breathing. That makes me feel everything; Courage, Fear, Joy, Love, Anger, Sadness!
Webster’s Dictionary did not include this definition of harmony. Some may say it is defined under “Life”. If Webster had included this definition of Harmony, maybe more people would have lived.
I’ll stick with Charles Haanel’s definition. I want to Live.
So interesting, Debra! I agree with your insights about Harmony and about the Hero’s Journey – gotta go get some tissue:)
What great insight, DJ! And I love how you connect life and music into their own harmonies we can all experience and enjoy. Happy New Year saluting a great life for you, my friend!!
