I had fun with last week’s blog, so much so I watched a few movies twice. In relation to Cool Runnings, I watched it from the beginning. Some of the clips, I thought I did not see that before and I had a few haaa haaa moments.
The movie I decided to review was Mully.
Charles Mully had a formidable mastermind partner in his wife and over time, his children.
But I have jumped to the middle of the movie. Charles Mully faced so many challenges starting from him being abandoned by his nuclear family, his wider family, village, and society when he arrived in the city.
I think he received his call to adventure when he was abandoned and the woman who opened the door to his knock was his first mentor. She had the life he was seeking i.e., somewhere to live, sleep, eat and work. The woman unknowingly provided support. She saw something in Charles Mully.
I realised he also had Faith which equaled Hope; the invisible thread which followed him throughout out his life. Charles Mully did not have any evidence and he was tested so many times.
The movie did not talk about Charles Mully’s formal education, so I marvel at the business achievements – he had it all. He would have been tested in business and he continued to thrive.
However, the businesses took him further away from his calling.
Charles Mully’s calling was to help the street children. That threshold led to many test, trials and challenges.
Would he have been able to survive without his mastermind partner – his wife and children (eventually)? I think not, then I reconsider thinking about his religion. Charles Mully had faith – ’substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’ Hebrews 11:1-2.
Faith provided a formidable ally that enabled him to side step the enemies. He prayed for water and listened to the response. He persisted and encouraged the children to persist in digging.
Charles Mully saw the vegetation and the gushing river before anyone else (so he ensured a bridge was built). His subconscious was working 24/7. Striking water was the reward that helped and helps them to be self sufficient and reduce sickness.
The life of Charles Mully reflects his individual hero’s journey alongside the 7 laws of the mind. I had the tissues out and loved the additional clip I watched where he made a request.
At that point I thought he would ask for money, but he did not. He asked for prayer and for others to keep Mully Children’s Family in prayer – beautiful way to finish the movie night.
Sandra, what a beautiful assessment of a fabulous, inspiring movie. Can’t wait to see what you and your masterminding efforts create. I’m staying tuned!!
