minutes remaining

This week I got to watch movies, and if you know me, I love movies! The great thing is, I got to watch some that I had never heard of, and knew nothing about.

Rudy was the first one I watched. I’m not really into football, and was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy it. However, I was delightfully wrong! I loved it! Rudy had dream, a clear vision of what he wanted. He knew this at a very young age.

I found it interesting that when he talked about his goal, others would mock him and tell him how ridiculous this was, yet he never let anything anyone said damped his resolve at all! It was if he thought they were talking craziness….when they thought he was crazy.

I remember when his father told him that people like them didn’t get to dream. I felt that pain. I remember feeling the same way when I was growing up, never really being supported in what I did. I was never asked what I wanted to do, or be, or what my dreams were. I was led to believe that dreams don’t come true, so be practical.

A few years ago, I decided to follow a dream I had. It took me 2 years of working out and training to be able to pass the first step of reaching my dream. During those 2 years, nothing held me back. I was at the track with my trainer 3 days a week, running and training. Then I was at the gym 4 days a week lifting and toning. During those 2 years, that is who I was. I did it without failure, knowing what my goal was and knew I had to work hard to obtain it.

Finally after 2.5 years, I passed the first step. I didn’t just barely pass, I demolished the minimums of what I had to do. However, after finishing the whole process, I was denied the final ultimate goal.

I was then lost and didn’t know where to go from that point. I eventually started a new path and found what I was looking for.

I remember having that goal, that vision of what I wanted in front of me. Nothing was going to take me off that path.

The other movies I watched, I enjoyed. All of them so different, yet inspirational. I enjoyed this assignment this week.
