As the Fabulous Davene says, “it’s easy to do, but it’s easy not to do too.” I think of this often when I find myself not keeping up with the assignments.

They really are easy to do, they take some time, but they are easy. On the other hand, they are also so easy not to do. It’s easy to forget, and then before I realize it, I’ve missed several assignments.

This past week or so I’ve been dealing with this. I’ve been working on being more deliberate, because, if I’m not, it’s easy to slip back into old patterns and habits.

So, this week I ask myself, what are some of the changes I’ve seen since this class started, and is it worth the effort.

First off, I have actually taken the time to sit down and, not only think about what I want out of the rest of my life, but I’ve written it down. Then I’ve thought about it, and rewritten it several times. This is huge. How many people actually think about what they want? Not many of the people I know.

Then I’ve found myself doing things instead of thinking about doing things. The little 3×5 card assignments really work. Instead of putting things off and maybe never doing them, big or small, I’m actually just doing them. Not everything, but a lot of things. So, progress is being made. And it has been relatively painless, but a major change and life improvement.

And on a more profound level, I’ve been able to let go of a lot of anger and bitterness I’ve held for a decade or two. It is amazing. It was just like “poof” and I no longer seem to care about those people any more. They are just not worth the energy drain and the bitter heart I had for so long.

So, the answer to my question is yes, it is definitely worth the effort. Tomorrow morning, after I start my day with love in my heart, I will continue on this journey of self-awareness determined to be even more aware of staying on track, so I can see what other changes are in store.
