As we go into this new week, Mark explains what this course is doing to the brain, I can honestly say my brain has really felt it to say the least. But this week, however, has been wonderful!
Last weekend our daughters came into town to play some gigs in Orlando. They had a gig on Saturday which paid well. We got there at 3:00 to load in, sound check and then we were to start at 7:30.
This was an outdoor event, and the weather wasn’t looking good. We had so much time before we went on that me and my three kids decided to drive back home for a while, grab a bite to eat and go back. On our way back we were informed we were canceled due to the rain.
GREAT!!! The girls came in from Nashville for this show and now its canceled. Being this gig was booked through the city, we didn’t have one of our contracts signed so we were not expecting to get paid, but, I still had to pay the band.
My girls drove from Nashville to play this gig so they are getting paid as well. I wasn’t worried about it. As a matter of fact about two weeks prior one of our band members asked us if he could get paid early for this gig because he needed tires for his car. We paid him right away. I still paid him for the gig on top of it.
My one daughter was concerned about us not getting paid, but I told her don’t worry about it. It will be OK. I was not stressed which normally I would be. I get a call on Tuesday to ask where they can send the check. BEAUTIFUL!!!
The other day I was baking and prepping for my Thanksgiving dinner. I have my whole family and half of my extended family who live in town come over for dinner. What happens? My oven went on me.
All the digital components were flashing and locked up on me. We couldn’t program it or even shut it off. Really??? Just days before Thanksgiving and I have so much baking to do?
The amazing part was, I was not stressed, normally I would be. The oven is 25 years old and we plan on getting a new one when we start remodeling our home, but I don’t want one right now.
My son was looking online at some new ranges that could be delivered in a day or two. What we ended up doing was resetting the circuit breaker and it appears all is working well. I will let you know next week if we got the turkey cooked, LOL!
I truly had no emotion to both of these events. No stress.
This is a big change in me!!!
The other amazing thing I experienced this week was baking bread. I belong to a coop of farm foods for over 20 years now with grassfed meats, raw dairy, fermented foods, etc.
Baking my own sourdough bread from a starter was always something I wanted to get into since my kids were young but with the busy lifestyle of running in all different directions at once, I never got into it.
My daughter brought me a starter when she came to town last week. So I start making sourdough bread. It was fun and so interesting.
As I am going through the process of feeding the starter, waiting for it to rise, dividing it to put some in the dough I’m about to make. I have to let this dough sit for an hour and then start my stretch and pulls.
Folding over the dough and then let that sit another hour. Again, stretch and folds, turning the dough and stretch, turn the dough and stretch. Back in the fridge covered until I am ready to bake it.
When I take it out of the fridge and uncover it, I can see this beautiful ball of dough has gotten bigger and looks good to start baking. I have to score the bread to make a beautiful design. What a magnificent procedure.
As I am going through all of this I couldn’t stop thinking about this is how people use to make bread in their homes decades ago. So I actually experience my own battleship experience this week and it was AMAZING!!
Hi Cheryl, It sounds like a busy week with little stress over the few things that could have been big stressful things. It’s exciting to hear about how you apply the tools from the MKE.
Wow, a busy week with a lot of lessons and opportunities to apply the MKE lessons – good for you!
