Since this is Thanksgiving week here in the United States I thought it would be a good time to revisit what thankful means, especially since I’m changing my mental blueprint and evolving into someone different than I was just a short 2 months ago,

According to the dictionary, thankful is defined as follows:

Thankful – adjective
pleased and relieved.
“they were thankful that the war was finally over”

Similar: relieved, pleased, glad, grateful
expressing gratitude and relief.
“an earnest and thankful prayer”

There was a key word. Gratitude. But what does gratitude mean? How is it different?

According to the dictionary, gratitude is defined as follows:

Gratitude – noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
“she expressed her gratitude to the committee for their support”

Similar: gratefulness, thankfulness, thanks, appreciation, recognition

Thankful is an adjective. A word naming an attribute. Gratitude is a noun. A word naming a person, place, or thing. And, converting adjectives to nouns has always been common in English. Confused? Yeah, me too.

While there are many, many things that I’m thankful and grateful for, my top 3 are as follows.

First, I’m thankful for all that I already have. A safe home, a running vehicle, food on the table, generally good health, and supportive family and friends. I’m grateful to have been blessed in that way as there are so many that have not been.

Second, I’m thankful for the Master Key Experience as well as all the other courses I’ve taken with Mark. I’m grateful for Mark, Davene, Lori, and all the rest of the staff and guides that make it happen.

Third, I’m thankful for my upline mentor Dick W. I met Dick when I was in another MLM prior to my current one, One day Dick told me that I should follow this guy named Mark J, aka The Lazy Networker, if I really wanted to learn how to build a successful MLM business.

This was in November of 2014. I’ve been getting the emails ever since but honestly never really paid attention. Until this past Spring when Think and Grow Rich was offered,,, for free. I had read the book previously but never ‘got it’.

The price was great, but really I guess the time was finally right. So, I’m grateful that Dick cared enough to put his own ego aside and direct me to Mark, and I was strong enough to put my own ego aside and decide to listen.

I’m thankful that I’ve developed an attitude of gratitude. The rest as they say is history.

  • Good one Charlie! I too, received emails from Mark J for several years before jumping into the Master Key Experience. And I too, am grateful for that!

  • Hi Teri. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I can empathize with you. Sometimes we get so focused on our challenges that we forget to see our blessings. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving season as well.

  • Great blog, Charlie. I need to be more thankful and grateful. I’m not ungrateful, I just lean towards the side of self-pity. This class has certainly opened my eyes to the ways that has been holding me back. And your blog reinforces that for me. Happy Thanksgiving season!
