The past two weeks since I decided to take the MKE course have been “character building.” My emotions ranged from anxious (“Will I get the scholarship?”, “Did I make the right decision taking this course?”), elation (“I got the scholarship!”), wonderment (“I didn’t know my personality type is blue.”), frustration (“I don’t understand the Master Keys!”, “What do I write for my DMP?”, “I lost my spot on the Week 1 webinar replay! Help!”), and excitement (“School supplies! Yay!”). I haven’t been in school in years. It’s been a struggle to get back into school mode while balancing work, medical appointments, home life, and sleep. However, I am determined to learn as much as I can from the MKE course.

I spent most of Monday night watching MKE videos, reading Scroll 1, and writing my DMP. I started Tuesday determined to stick to my goals. In my car I read my DMP and Master Keys outloud. With a clearer mind, the Master Keys started making sense. Any Key that didn’t initially make sense I reread and paraphrased the Key until it made sense. Soon, I remembered the brain was the organ of the objective mind (Master Key #19, p. 3) and the Solar Plexus was the organ of the subconscious mind (Master Key #22, p. 4). I could even imagine the sun bursting from the Solar Plexus.

I wrote in my scholarship application that I would use the obstacles I encounter during this course as stepping stones. To my delight, one of the MKE blog images was of stacked stones. This reminded me of the Inuksuit on rocky Canadian beaches. Separate, the rocks are indistinguishable among other rocks. However, when they are carefully balanced on top of each other they form a cohesive navigation marker for travelers. Taking this course is my journey. The obstacles are temporary deterrents but if I change my attitude towards them, I can continue my journey to improve my life.

  • Great blog Deanna I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. You are not alone with all the emotions I think everyone has some or all that you mentioned. You will do great and as you stated “the obstacles are temporary deterrents”. Congratulations on accepting this journey. You will do great!

  • “I would use the obstacles that I encounter during this course as stepping stones.” Enjoy the journey!

  • Wow! I really enjoyed the detail in describing your experience with the course and including your “emotions” before and during the process so far.

  • Deanna, welcome! I loved learning about the rock tower as a help so symbolic of our adventure together in this year’s MKE–“when they are carefully balanced on top of each other they form a cohesive navigation marker for travelers.” Thanks for sharing your stepping stones of encouragement with the Master Mind!
