Introduction:
The concept of a 7-day mental diet was proposed as a challenge. The challenge seemed straightforward enough: stay positive for seven consecutive days, or restart the journey if negativity creeps in. Eager to transform my mindset, I embarked on this mental adventure, armed with determination and an unwavering commitment to self-improvement.
Day 1: A Rocky Start
The first day proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Negative thoughts seemed to linger at the periphery of my consciousness, waiting for an opportune moment to surface. Despite my best efforts, a few moments of self-doubt and frustration slipped through. But rather than dwell on the setbacks, I chose to view them as valuable lessons and motivation to do better on day two.
Days 2-5: Finding Positivity in Small Moments
As the days progressed, I became increasingly aware of the power of small, positive moments. Whether it was a compliment from a colleague or the warmth of the sun on my face during a brief walk, I learned to appreciate and savor these instances. Redirecting my focus towards gratitude helped me navigate through potential pitfalls and maintain a more optimistic outlook.
Day 6: The Tipping Point
On the sixth day, something shifted. The practice of consciously steering my thoughts away from negativity became more natural. I discovered that, like any skill, cultivating a positive mindset requires consistent effort and practice. The more I embraced this challenge, the more I found myself responding to adversity with resilience and a newfound sense of inner peace.
Day 7: Celebrating Small Victories
Completing the 7-day mental diet (getting through 7 days) was a victory in itself. Reflecting on the journey, I realized that the true essence of the challenge lies not just in avoiding negativity but in embracing the process of personal growth. Each stumble, every redirection of my thoughts, and the conscious effort to stay positive contributed to a more resilient and optimistic version of myself.
Conclusion:
Never Give Up on the Journey Within
Embarking on a 7-day mental diet isn’t about achieving perfection. It’s a journey of self-discovery and resilience. As I celebrate the small victories, I recognize that the road to a positive mindset is an ongoing process.
The key lies in persistence, self-compassion, and a commitment to continuous improvement. So, to anyone on a similar journey, remember: setbacks are not failures but steppingstones towards a brighter, more positive future. Never give up on the incredible journey within yourself.
Thanks, Nancy!!

Hi Jill!
What a great blog post. I think my favorite part is when you brought the word resilience in at the moment that you did in your blog.
You were speaking about how the more one embraces the challenge, the greater one’s sense of resilience to fulfilling the challenge, and also the greater sense of inner peace once one has persevered!
I believe that our inner peace comes from not only from achieving say, the goals of the Mental Diet Exercise…but/also….that inner peace also comes from “failing forward” and knowing that we are making our best effort, and that we are, all of us, artworks in progress and process.
It’s the “putting it into practice” part of the Master Key Experience that has really been swaying me into believing that I can indeed be my best self.
The way you spoke about embracing adversity in the mental diet exercise caused me to realize that I increasingly felt a connection to my entire tribe and, indeed, to myself!
Thank you!
This was a fabulous journal entry. I hadn’t considered keeping an account of the days. It must have really helped you accomplish the goal. Proud of you!
Jill,

Your ability to find positivity in small moments resonates, proving that the journey is as significant as the destination. The revelation on day six and the celebration of small victories on day seven are powerful testaments to your resilience. Your conclusion beautifully encapsulates the essence of the journey within—persistence, self-compassion, and commitment to improvement. Your insights are a guiding light for those navigating a similar path. Well done!
