There is something that happens to a musician when they are playing their instrument. It is a magical feeling. Once you get the piece learned to the degree that you can work on tweaking the dynamics to convey more emotion, you know that you have arrived at a place where your heart, mind and soul feels immersed in a Greater Consciousness that is now USING
YOU!
This only happens after you’ve practiced enough for the movement between notes to become second nature. The goal for me, I’ve decided, is to become fluent in the language of my instrument, which is in this case The Master Key Experience!
I started piano on my fourth birthday and violin on my seventh. I have played in many orchestras, string ensembles and a couple of rock bands. My entire childhood was dominated by practicing music, performing and being adjudicated. It was often stressful.
The great news is that it became exhilarating in direct proportion to the amount of stress and the difficulty in learning the music. That exhilaration was and is ecstatically blissful.
The Master Key Experience, I have come to find in the past few weeks, is for me a very similar process. The symphony that is our lives is made up of musical sentences. The words of the sentence are the chords and melody of each phrase. Our index cards and daily readings, for example, are the notes of the phrase that is this phase of the Master Key Experience.
As I see it, the consistency and enTHUSiasm we bring to our various assignments and services is akin to the daily practice of an instrument as one strives to perfect a beautiful and touching rendition. I surely want my life to be a variation on this theme of beauty that touches others.
Sure, there are days I balk at doing my readings. However, each time I persevere, I get a very spiritual lift when I “always keep my promises.” I’m quite aware that my “subby” needs tweaking. Our current assignment, The Mental Diet, has given me new ears with which to hear – no,
Listen!
It is now dawning on me that my internal dialogue is like a dissonant chord. The Master Key Experience is much like the resolution of tension in music – similar to lots of small, happy endings culminating in a symphonic masterpiece that is my life now and going forward!
Angela, I absolutely love your blog! Keep on playing the symphony that is uniquely yours by releasing those internal dissonant chords.
