The journey continues. Last week I realized the struggle to control my subconscious is real. This week I realized the rewards are tremendous. I had an opportunity to share with a family member what my compass and magnifying glass symbolize. They said it helped them to have a better perspective about their own goals.
I completed the “shapes” assignment. It was therapeutic because I used my colored pencils for the 8 pages of all shapes. As I was coloring, I saw that the “triangle” was the starting point for my goals. This triangle is vital to the other goals falling into place.
My triangle goal is to get up earlier so I can have a couple of hours of “self-care” time to spend reading, praying, visualizing, and of course, drinking coffee! Once my professional day begins, I’m in a better frame of mind to deal with the day.
I’m a linear thinker (ABCD, 123) and by coloring the shapes I have been able to see the progression of my goals based on their shapes and colors. Becoming aware of triangles has been interesting. First the green triangle, then my Liberty’s blue rectangle.
That’s when things will start to happen. My red circle is dependent on the achievement of my blue rectangle. I still can’t find many yellow squares (glad it’s my last shape/color). Until I can find some yellow squares, I have a couple of Post It notes (yellow square) posted around my surroundings.
I think Subby is getting the picture. I have gotten up two hours earlier for the past two days! It’s only been a couple of days, but I am astounded and super proud of myself. My alarm rings and I get up without hitting the snooze button. I even woke up before the alarm rang (but chose to snuggle under the covers) aware that I was fully awake.
After only two days, I am not naive enough to think “arise early” has become a habit. But because I’m starting to enjoy it, I see a good habit being formed. Thank you, Og Mandino for the Scrolls. The exercises and readings are starting to pay off. Charles Haanel’s weekly Master Key readings are magnificent.
My point is, because of paying attention to my triangle goal, I’m not dragging myself out of bed. I’m no longer “rush reading” and dreading the countdown before I have to start work at my “9-5” job.
I woke up today and laughed because the “shapes” are working. I’m constantly looking at the green triangles I colored and then looking around for other triangles (hopefully green ones). I’ve been very focused on the importance of hitting my triangle goal.
Haven’t finished my Movie Poster yet. I have too many image possibilities. I’m still trying to narrow down the images to make it clear to Subby when I look at it. But working on it keeps me thinking about it.
There is just so much more to say. Since this is a blog and not a book, I’ll end by thanking Training Solutions for MKE. Looking forward to Week Eight.
Ava, that’s so exciting. It’s not one of my goals, but struggle I’ve had for years is getting resolved through the course. I’ve wanted to establish a before-bed routine & now I have one. I’ll think of you & your green triangles in the morning! Yay!
Hi Ava, Getting up 2 hours earlier is setting your day up for success. Thank you for sharing the green triangle story and how it supports all your goals.
Oh Ava, I love your linear thinking so much. I was driving the other day and newly back to Oregon from spending the last year in California/Arizona and Texas. Seeing all the Green Triangles on the tops of the Pine Trees here in Oregon brought me to tears. I am appreciating using the Green Triangles as a progression of your goals…and seeing how wonderfully that applies to mine also. Thank you for your perspective.
Ava — Congratulations on your early rising! Quiet time in the morning is indeed a blessing. Good luck with the other shapes!
