Mark Januszewski had us add the following to our service card for the week. I promise to “Visualize my new reality as a service to others by (date)” This was really thought provoking for me and pertinent to the week of preparing for Thanksgiving.

We had family and a guest come to stay with us for several days. There was a lot of work to prepare food, serve meals and set up sleeping areas. I enjoyed saying this promise as the week progressed. It made me think differently and framed everything in a lot more love.

Especially, when I connected it to reading “The Greatest Salesman in The World, Og Mandino” Scroll 2. Scroll 2 title is “I will greet this day with love in my heart” It also tells me to say “I love You” silently to a person regardless of what is going on. There were several occasions when that really helped with a mind-shift.

This correlated beautifully with the Law of Substitution. I liked this paragraph from our Week 8 lesson.

“Mental habits are difficult to control, but it can be done and the way to do it is to begin at once to substitute constructive thought for destructive thought. Form the habit of analyzing every thought. If it is necessary, if its manifestation in the objective will be a benefit, not only to yourself, but to all whom it may affect in any way, keep it; treasure it; it is of value; it is in tune with the Infinite; it will grow and develop and produce fruit a hundred-fold. On the other hand, it will be well for you to keep this quotation from George Matthews Adams, in mind, “Learn to keep the door shut, keep out of your mind, out of your office, and out of your world, every element that seeks admittance with no definite helpful end in view.”

The Master Key System, Charles Haanel, Week 8, #4

As I finished that chapter, I especially liked the sweetness of the closing paragraph stressing the immense value of today and I wish this for each of you reading this.

“Look To This Day For it is Life, the very Life of Life. In Its brief course lie all the Verities and Realities of your existence; The Bliss of Growth; The Glory of Action; The Splendor of Beauty; For Yesterday is but a Dream, and tomorrow is only a Vision: But Today well lived makes every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness, and Every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope. Look well, therefore, to This Day!’”

  • I also love that part where it tells you to say “I love You” silently to a person regardless of what is going on. I have been doing that a lot lately in conversations with others. I find myself being more grateful towards my loved ones, but also to those I just meet out in public.

  • Hi Patricia, The quotes you chose spoke to me. Thank you for sharing them. You’re doing great.
