I am blessed to have a job wherein I am able to observe incredible sights not often seen by others.
This month, the route that I am flying has me operating over Canada at nighttime. This time of year, when conditions are favorable, it is not uncommon to witness the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights as they are also known and last night was no exception.
The lights, in and of themselves, are very impressive when viewed from the ground but when you get to seem them as you fly through them at 39,000 feet, the experience is surreal.
Last night, my experience had an extra bonus in that the colors and shapes evoked a linked thought impulse to the exercises we are working on.
No, I didn’t see specific red cirlcles or green triangles but the indescribable colors and shapes seemed to naturally move my thoughts to my actual shape board and SMART goals as if I was one with the universe for a few moments as I flew through the area of light.
The experience was surreal and I struggle to come up with words to actually describe it with any degree of accuracy. I guess, simply put, I felt like I was IN my thoughts and therefore that much closer to the Universe and Source of all Good.
I smiled and quietly enjoyed the moment, hoping that I wasn’t evoking any unusual behavior that might give my First Officer pause for my sanity.

Ron, what an enlightening experience you had. We got to see some of the pictures with Shirly’s Polo message. I’ve seen some videos of this but have never been so blessed as to see this in person. I’m hoping this is still available in heaven, if so I’ll wait. I don’t like to fly so your view is out for me for now.
