Enthusiastic Share

I had a most wonderful experience last Friday that I’d love to share with you all.

As I was checking out at the supermarket, the cashier taking care of me enthusiastically and spontaneously shared with me that two of her nephews had won The Amazing Race. It’s a tv show where competing teams go around the world being challenged to complete some pretty arduous physical tasks.

Through her beaming smile she expressed how she and her family were so very proud of their accomplishment. She mentioned that they were good men, and was especially happy because they were the first Black team to win in the show’s history. She was happy for her nephews, for her family, and for her people.

Her joyful energy was contagious! I am sure that as she continued to share her story with others on her checkout line that day, her little corner of the world was better for it. I know mine was.

I thanked her for sharing her story and wished her and her family all the very best in life. To me it was a wonderful example of being in the dynamic flow of giving and receiving. She was an inspiration to me and I will continue to observe all the blessings that surround me and all of us every day, even when on a supermarket checkout line.
