MKE Week 3 – I Promise To…

This week one of the MKE assignments was to write a movie trailer of our DMP. I struggled writing my previous two DMPs. The first one dealt with my health and helping others. It was vague and lacked emotion. The second one dealt with my health and opening a fiber women’s collective. It still lacked emotion, a sacrifice, specific dates, etc.

This time I was determined to write my DMP using my PPNs True Health and Helping Others and adding as many of my guide’s suggestions into my DMP and keeping it under 300 words. I’m the type of person who loves to write. I can write a 2-6 double sided letter and it’s as easy as breathing. Condensing my writing to fit a word count or one page is a different story. How do I write a movie trailer of my DMP to fit one side of a 3×5 index card with 12-20 small spaces between key words and phrases? This was a conundrum.

I pulled out my newest DMP and began writing a condensed version. Too long. Hmm. Okay, what are the key elements I need and what can I leave out? So I spent a lot of time writing and rewriting. I used Mark’s example in the lesson as a guideline. I remembered to start my movie trailer with “I promise to…” and ended it with “I always keep my promises.”

Eventually I was able to fit my DMP onto a 3×5 index card. However, I know Subby gravitates towards colour so I rewrote it one last time, writing key words or phrases in different colours and leaving spaces behind each key word or phrase.

This is how my movie trailer looks like in black and white:

My Needs are True Health and Helping Others

I promise to exercise, eat healthier meals,
limit treats (I did it!), read positive
affirmations, connect with others, limit time
on YouTube and Facebook, and sit still 15
minutes for True Health. My Women’s
Collective, a safe haven for women to
socialize, learn, create, sell, and share
fiber knowledge and skills opens before
December 2028. Helping women learn and
share fiber skills makes me HAPPY and
EXCITED!
I always keep my promises! Deanna PB

I’m sure both my DMP and movie trailer could use more tweaking but right now both make me feel great and excited!
