When our trainer mentioned making out 50 -70 cards, my reaction was not good. Has he lost his mind? Did he think this through? OK, I could not imagine the need for me to do such a thing.
Well, Later I sat down and counted out 70 cards and followed the instructions anyway. To my surprise, this was an enjoyable event. I began after I sat for 20 minutes with the focus on remembering things I’ve done in life.
First, I went back to being 2 years old at Christmas. My father, who was no longer married to my mom, came by with a gift of a Red Flyer Covered wagon. That was in 1953. My whole body is now feeling goosebumps and a level of happiness that is indescribable. That was the first card.
I filled out the next 70 cards and looked for more in the stack that was now empty. My feeling of accomplishment was gushing out of this being, in silly laughter. What I did was sit back and observe, my resistance to the chore and the doing and then ultimate feeling of JOY.
I always keep my promises.

Robert, though you’ve been in MKE before, I love that you’re still being taken by surprise as our constantly more and more relevant Experience challenges, engages, and even creates “gushing out of this being, in silly laughter.” Also…your memory of your dad is so touching and emotional and it was the 1st card! I am so thrilled for you!
My reaction to the exercise at first was similar to yours Robert. Now I am enjoying it.
I celebrate with you Robert! Those cards are something else. I had a very similar experience as what you describe. Now, I love reading them and want to add more and more and more. Virtual high five for our persistence and success!!
Congratulate yourself for recognizing your resistance and doing the assignment anyway and you obviously reaped the rewards. I gave up questioning assignments long ago and totally trust what they ask me to do. Great blog!
