For the Week 20 webinar I had to catch the replay because of time change I was in Church the first part of the afternoon. Toward the end of the training portion of the webinar we learned that our old blueprint keeps us from stepping out in the Hero’s Journey. We tend to hold on to what is familiar or comfortable.
We know what should be done, and have been taught affirmations to steer us in the right direction. “What am I pretending not to know?” and “What would the person I intend to become do next?” are so important that they held top position on our flash card stack.
Yet our associative memory seems to kick in, creating projected outcomes, and perceives “DANGER!” So we avoid doing what we know should be done.
I’m in network marketing , and I knew that in order to be successful I needed to pick up the phone and talk to people. Instead I was convincing myself and staying in my comfort zone spending my time doing non productive things like watching trainings, being on webinars, all kinds of things except what I should have been doing. Anybody thinking “fear” right now?
The old blueprint was causing me to hang on to what was comfortable, instead of having the courage to step out in the Hero’s Journey. Learning that we can turn things around, and use our fear, guilt, hurt feelings, unworthiness, and anger as tools rather than things that hold us back from attaining our DMPs was really eye opening for me.
I bought some cheap cold market leads from information I learned in the Go 90 Grow course in order to practice the skills we were learning there, and picked up the phone, and just kept dialing for 2 or 3 hours.
And similar to the Law of Substitution, I am realizing that I am now using my fear and feelings of guilt as tools to not jump out of my comfort zone, but at least I’m learning to expand it. “When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.” Besides enjoying my time on the phone now, I know I’m moving forward toward what I want my life to become.
Jack, you expressed that fear of using the phone just as I have. Thanks for all your advice. God is blessing you and your wife.
Awesome Jack that you are enjoying your time on the phone now, you’re also expanding and moving forward toward what you want your life to become. Sound pretty wonderful to me
Congrats Jack!! You are applying the knowledge you are learning…and it is making a positive impact on your life. So happy for you!
