You’ve got to be kidding, homework! What kind of Mastermind is this?
Breathe, okay, I signed up for this, will bite the bullet, go along with the program. I picked an easy chore for my homework; had to write it down on index card and connect it to blue rectangle. Cleaning out my PJ drawer was the task I chose, one that I have put off for a couple of years!
Oh, but wait, must write it down on a 3X5 card, color in a blue rectangle, due date, reminders? This was payback for what I did to my little sister that was in my care to get her through high school years ago! All her chores for the month were on a calendar, taped to the back of the kitchen cabinet that faced our dining room.
Before bed we went through the chores and checked what she accomplished. Depending on how she did, she got Stars or Sad Faces for the day. At the end of week if she had more Stars, she would be rewarded.
To help motivate us to get the chores done we were given a statement to repeat, ‘Do It Now’ throughout the day for a minimum of 25 times each time you saw that blue rectangle.
Strangely, the trick to getting it done was Hearing myself saying “do it now”! I found myself looking for the stupid blue triangles and pulling my fingers and repeating the ‘do it now’ 25 times!
Found myself motivated and having fun!
Thank God for the blue rectangle/box and linking it to saying “do it now” out loud with enthusiasm! Got me off my Butt and I started using it for all kinds of things.
I was in shock that this silly action worked! Just getting started go check my last blog!
Magic words… Do it now!
Aurora, great blog! I find it so easy to get things done, and not waiting for later, which used to be my old blueprint….later. Now when I look at something and start to walk away to “do it later”, I automatically say “do it now”, and I do it now, it’s amazing! And writing it down as a promise, forget about it, I have to do it!
Funny how these exercises return us to childhood:) Good for you for ‘doing it now’ – that’s the best!
