I am a 1st born Canadian- my parents being of British heritage. In Canada we celebrate our Thanksgiving holiday the 2nd Monday of October. That means we have 2.5 months before we have turkey again so will enjoy it.
Our 3rd born son gave us a big surprise this past weekend, one week before the long weekend. He and his wife came to visit us and what makes that so special is it was over 4 years since Adrian was here and at least 5 years since we saw Sara. So we are busy eating turkey for the 4th day already.
There is one line in the 1st scroll that always makes me smile. It is the line “I will lose not a day from these readings for that day cannot be retrieved…” It always reminds me of our former orchestra & choir director who shared one night he was coming home from southern Ontario and there was an accident on the highway and no detours. He sat there for 5 hours and he said “I want those 5 hours back”! I am so thankful that we cannot ask for those hours back. Imagine what a topsy turvey world we’d be living in as we all adjusted to someone else’s wish!
While I was able to attend the first 1.5 hours of Sunday’s session life has been very hectic with company and then other personal things. So Wednesday was when I will be able to finish watching the replays. Aren’t replays wonderful?! I am so thankful for this marvelous ‘invention’.
And I am excited about this week’s homework! (Don’t tell that to the 12 year old Peggy – she was never excited about homework!) Since my chosen task this week is to empty the plastic containers of contents (magazines, papers to be filed, etc.)
I am excited and have energy to clean my desk. Not on the list. Typical of my own school days. Exams tomorrow? Suddenly I found time to clean my closet… Is that avoidance or procrastination? I have continued to ignore my desk and am getting there with the containers.
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.

It’s heartwarming to hear about the surprise visit from your son and his wife after such a long time and how you’ve been enjoying turkey together. Also, it’s interesting to see how the line from the 1st scroll reminds you of the value of time and how important it is to make the most of every moment.
I love your post, Peggy. As a fellow Canadian, I also love Thanksgiving and the fact that there is always much to be grateful for:)
