I’ve been grappling with the inevitable passage of time, especially with my recent transition from being my own boss for seven years to working a 9-5 job with Big Brother-like time surveillance. Balancing the demands of this structured schedule and finding the right priorities has been a constant challenge.
The other day, I set out to tackle a simple task – shredding papers. It might seem insignificant, but in this newfound routine, every task counts. After completing it, I decided to celebrate as instructed, acknowledging the small victories amidst this shift. But then, the next day, my shredder malfunctioned, bringing my plans to a screeching halt.
Frustration set in as I attempted basic troubleshooting, but I couldn’t fix it. Defeated, I left the problem for the day. However, today, I gathered the determination to dig deeper. I identified a clump of paper causing the issue, fixed it, and finally shredded those papers! The relief and triumph were overwhelming, prompting me to burst into cheers and dance in celebration.
In that moment, it was more than just fixing a shredder and completing a chore. It was a testament to my resilience and adaptability during this time of change. It symbolized my ability to conquer unexpected obstacles and find joy in the face of frustration. This victory, though seemingly small, was a reminder of my capabilities and the power of persistence.
Recognizing and celebrating these triumphs, regardless of their size, has become essential. They fuel my motivation and keep me positive amidst the challenges of this transition.
Finding the joy or happiness instead of any other thing that one could have associated with those events is a leap forward! Those victorious moments will increase, your thoughts of joy will continue to replace the opposite and life will become a much happier place…
It is just as the law of substitution tells us (paraphrased): replace the unwanted thought with a good or great one! You’ve got this!!!
I can’t wait to read about all the great things that you’ll discover on your journey!
I can relate to this. I just went back to work after a year and half of not working. It really is getting in the way of my schedule lol. I enjoyed the days when I could grocery shop during the day when no one was around. Glad you got that shredding done!!!
